From Arkady and Boris Strugatsky's Roadside Picnic to Joan Lindsay's Picnic at Hanging Rock it's the table cloth to the ground kind of moment, dining outside, eating off the forest floor. It's the collapse of the structures we know, it's "the Witch, the perverse creature who does everything backwards and upside down" (according to Jules Michelet in Satanism and Witchcraft), it's ‘what yields to gravity’, 'the soul returns to the body' (John Baldassari collage of a seal diving into the body of a dead lion)
